Here we are, a million years later and finally getting around to blogging about our family road trip… that was last summer. Oops. Are you starting to see the trend of procrastination? Procrastination and I are best friends forever. Bless the people who have continued to stick around even though my blogging skills are weak. You guys are the real MVP’s here.
Alright, let’s dish about one of the things we did during our road trip last summer, Santa’s Village! When my dad and I were making the final plans for our visit to Vermont, one of the ideas that I (and my step-mom) had suggested was taking a day to drive to New Hampshire to visit the theme park, Santa’s Village. Santa’s Village was one of the things I remember doing with my dad when I was younger. I loved it so much and the idea of being able to let my girls experience the same joy I got as a kid was a definite no brainer.
During the Tueday of our visit, all of us woke up early in the morning and packed my dad’s van up and we all made our way to New Hampshire. We stopped off at a local gas station to caffeine and snack up and then by this local church that had some of the most beautiful architecture that I have ever seen. After snapping a few pictures of this beautiful church building, we continued the two-hour drive to Santa’s Village. When we pulled up to the theme park, I saw the huge icon sign and the view of the log flume from the parking lot.
When we entered the park, we made our way to Elf University so that all the girls and I could take part in the ABC elf punches that are scattered around the park. I didn’t remember much about Santa’s Village from when I went when I was young, but the elf ABC punches… those I remembered. We walked around the park and hit up all the amusement park rides, stopping by a few of the photographic spots where my sister and I had our pictures taken when we were little, recreating those images with my own girls.
When we weren’t having a blast on the rides, we were enjoying lunch together and diving into their giant gingerbread cookies at the little cafe and bakery. We watched the girls pet the reindeer and get their “good luck rings”, all the things that I got to take part in as a kid. At the end of the day, with sore feet and tired bodies, we made our way to the car and took the two-hour drive back to our Airbnb in Vermont. Once our entire road trip officially came to an end, we asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip was and surprise… it was the visit to Santa’s Village.
