It’s time to chat about my favorite activity: playing video games! But not any video games but specifically laid-back and cozy video games. Right now, cozy games are my go-to when it comes to relaxing and decompressing after a long day.
I love cozy games because they offer a relaxing way to unwind and check out mentally. I love putting my earbuds in, turning on an audiobook, and listening while I play one of my cozy games.
While I’m not an expert on games, I have many chill games that are a staple, and I thought it would be fun to share my list of games that I have been loving!

Let’s get into my (embarrassingly long) list of cozy games!
1. Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game where you move to the small town of Stardew Valley to take over your grandfather’s farm after he passes away. In the game, you build your farm, build relationships with the town members, and gather supplies in the wild.
I’m sure everyone has played this game or at least heard of it, but this post wouldn’t be a compilation of cozy games if I didn’t include it! I discovered Stardew Valley a few years ago after impulse buying it on my Nintendo Switch, and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since.
Not only is this game a staple for every cozy gamer, but there is so much variety, especially if you play it on a computer with mods!
2. Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing is another game that I am sure most people have heard of, but it needs an honorable mention! Animal Crossing is a social simulation game where you work to improve and upgrade your island. In the game, you can make relationships, customize your characters and home, collect materials, and even play multiplayer games with other island owners!
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since the GameCube days, and I love how much it has grown and evolved. And now you can even decorate other people’s homes with the Happy Home Paradise DLC!
3. Unpacking
Unpacking is a fun and simple puzzle game; it’s a favorite of mine! Unpacking takes the idea of unpacking boxes in a new home and makes it relaxing.
In the game, you go through eight different houses and watch your character’s story unfold as you learn more about her with the items she owns.
One of my favorite aspects of this game is there are no meters or timers, so you can have a relaxing and meditative experience while playing. A relaxing puzzle game with adorable graphics, a sweet story, and a killer soundtrack? Sign me up!
4. Cat Cafe Manager
Cat Cafe Manager is a laid-back simulation game where you travel to the village of Caterwaul Way to take over your grandmother’s cat cafe.
In this game, you renovate the cafe while building relationships with all the village residents. This game is one of my favorite chill games because it’s so mindless and easy.
This game is fun and reminds me a lot of those addictive phone games like “Diner Dash”. So if you’re looking for a simple game with an adorable plot, this one is for you!
5. Wytchwood
Wytchwood is a crafting adventure game where you play as a mysterious witch of the woods. I love the vibes of this game; the character of the witch reminds me a lot of the diety, Baba Yaga, and the game has a folk storybook art style with music that immerses you within the game.
Within the game, you gather items in the wild and create spells and articles to help further the plot. I haven’t finished this game yet, but anytime I go to play it, I fall in love with it all over again!
6. Little Witch in the Woods
Little Witch in the Woods is a recent release that came out as an Early Access on Steam. In this game, you play as Ellie, an apprentice witch who finds her way into an abandoned cottage in the middle of a magical forest.
This game is an adventure RPG where you gather materials to create spells, explore a fantasy world, get to know people, and help the local villagers.
I’ve only played a small amount of this game, but so far, it’s an adorable and cozy little game. Like a typical RPG, there is a lot of reading and conversations between Ellie and other characters.
Other than the copious amounts of dialogue, the storyline is cute, and the graphics are lovely. This game is a winner if you’re a cozy RPG fan!
7. Spiritfarer
Spiritfarer is a cozy management game. In Spiritfarer, you play Stella, a ferry master to the deceased. In the game, you work on building your boat and befriending the spirits before helping them cross into the afterlife.
You also get to mine, farm, fish, harvest, cook, and craft as you explore various magical locations across the seas. I’ve only played the demo of this game as I am currently waiting for it to go on sale, but from what little I’ve played of it, Spiritfarer is a beautiful game with a touching and emotional story.
8. Half Past Fate
Half Past Fate is a rom-com simulation game that follows the lives of six ordinary people and how their lives intersect. This game has a heartwarming and cozy feel and is story driven with a lot of dialogue.
The gameplay jumps you through time as it connects the lives of these six people. The game isn’t very long (around 8 hours), but the story, music, and graphics are adorable, making this a perfect romantic and cozy game!
9. House Flipper
House Flipper is a simulation game where you buy, repair, and remodel old houses. While I haven’t played this game myself, I have watched streamers play it on Twitch, and I am in love with it.
As a kid, I always remember loving the house building and decorating part of the sims way more than playing with my actual sims. And that’s where this game comes in!
The game gives you special requirements for each house as you work to provide a complete makeover! And there are so many excellent DLCs for this game, such as Luxury Flipper, House Flipper Pets, and Garden Flipper!
10. Celeste
Celeste is an action and adventure game where you play as Madeline, helping her on her journey up Celeste Mountain. This game is technically only cozy if you play on a specific mode.
Otherwise, the game can be considerably hard. I had tried to play it on normal mode once and decided that I preferred not worrying about dying, so I switched to Assist mode to enjoy the story without the stress.
One of the best parts of this game is the story! As you help Madeline on her journey, you watch her confront her demons and grow as a person. This game addresses heavy topics such as depression and anxiety in such a thoughtful way that it’s hard not to love the game once you’ve played it.

- Coral Island is a game I recently learned about this game, and it looks fantastic! Coral Island is a farming simulation game where you get to build your farm, date villagers, take care of livestock, and improve your town.

- Puffpals: Island Skies is a game I recently backed on Kickstarter, and I am loving seeing the updates on it.
