If you’re a business owner, no matter what size your business is, you know that it can often take a team to get things done productively and efficiently. But sometimes, when you’re a small business owner, hiring others and outsourcing your work isn’t always the easiest or even an option when you are working part-time or at the beginning stages. Therefore, having a strong list of resources under your belt is so important as an entrepreneur!
I’ve been in business for over seven years and now that I am in a position where I run multiple blogs, websites, and social media accounts as a one-woman team, having strong tools and resources that are both digital and tangible is the perfect way to make my work more efficient and easy to get done. It’s important to know where your strengths are and where you might need a little extra help to keep up the momentum in your business!
Today I’m sharing with you my top 5 resources. These are tools that I use daily and without them, I would probably be a huge mess! These 5 tools help me run a business that is consistent, strong, and profitable while allowing me to breathe and not tear my hair out in frustration!
1. Evernote: I’ve been using Evernote for years. It’s one of my absolute favorite ways to keep all my notes and ideas organized. One of my favorite things about this app is that it syncs across all my devices so if I’m on my laptop, desktop computer, tablet, or phone, I know that I’ll have an easy way to access all my notes, ideas, blog posts, lists, etc. It’s also a fantastic way to save business cards and documents with it’s camera!
2. Russell + Hazel: I’m a huge lover of all the digital resources nowadays but sometimes you can’t beat the simplicity and feel of pen and paper. I discovered the signature bookclothe binders from Russell + Hazel a few months ago and I’ve been a believer ever since. I have one binder for each business that I manage and it’s an easy way to keep track of blog posts, monthly calendars, and future ideas all in one beautiful tangible place.
3. Stylus Pen: If you use social media as a key part of your business, it can be tough trying to connect and engage with others when you’re typing on a phone. Nothing sucks the motivation right out of me more than having to spend hours responding to people and making tons of mistakes with my chubby fingers! So, I recently bought myself a stylus pen from Amazon and I can promise you that it’s been a GAME CHANGER when it comes to typing out comments on Facebook and Instagram. All you need to do is press the little button on the pen and start typing away, no Bluetooth required!
4. Planoly: Social media is being used in all kinds of crazy and new ways and it can be an amazing tool to connect and engage with other business owners and potential clients. One of the ways to utilize social media to its fullest potential is to post consistently. I try to post Monday through Saturday every week and the only way I can do that is if I plan all my images, captions, and hashtags ahead of time. Planoly is an amazing tool that helps you utilize social media in an effective way and it’s a great feeling to know that you’ve scheduled a weeks’ worth of posts ahead of time and all you need to do is post and engage throughout the week!
5. Social Curator & Social Squares: While Planoly helps you schedule social media posts, what do you do when you have no idea what to post or what to say? That’s where Social Curator and Social Squares come in. Both resources equip you with monthly images, action plans, and captions so that you can find an easy time in posting and creating momentum on your social media platforms! I have a folder on my computer filled with images and caption ideas that I pull from whenever my own motivation is lacking.
